Do I need insurance?: You confirm that your auto insurance covers towing a utility trailer. SoMo Trailer Rentals does not provide liability insurance for the tow vehicle.
What hitch do I need?: A 2" ball and a Class II or higher hitch are typical for this 3500# utility trailer. Confirm your vehicle tow rating, lighting plug, and that the ball matches the coupler before you book.
What if I damage the trailer?: Photograph the trailer at pickup and return. We place a $100 security/damage authorization hold — not a charge. If no damage is reported, the hold is released automatically 3 days after a recorded return. We can capture the hold and charge the card on file for amounts above $100.
How does pickup work?: Contactless at 9358 Lancaster Rd, Theodore, AL 36582 during 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. After payment you get a map, hookup tips, and the lockbox / hitch-pin code (when configured).
What about weather?: Rain does not cancel a rental. If we block the trailer for safety or maintenance, we refund the rental charge and release the hold.
What is the cancellation policy?: Cancel 24 hours or more before your start time and we refund the rental charge in full and release the $100 hold. Cancel with less than 24 hours notice and we keep 50% of the rental as a cancellation fee (the hold is still released).
What if I no-show?: If you do not pick up the trailer and do not cancel, the full rental charge is kept. The $100 hold is released unless damage or a dispute is on file.
What if I am late?: There is a 30-minute grace period after your return time. After that, late returns are $20 per hour or fraction of an hour, charged to the card on file, and capped at one full-day rate ($40) per day overdue.
How old do I have to be?: You must be 21 or older on the pickup date. We require a photo of your valid driver's license.
What tax do you charge?: We currently collect 5.50% (AL + Mobile County sales tax) on the rental subtotal. Theodore is unincorporated Mobile County. See the README for the legal note on Alabama rental/lease tax versus sales tax.
What does a week cost?: Seven or more full days get 15% off the daily $40.00 rate — about $34/day before tax. The savings line is shown in the price summary.
